Soul Shattering Star: Starset Prism
A downloadable game for Windows
This is the story of an unlikely binary star, the tale of a vollaivin and shapeshifter enjoying a rare time of peace, not knowing that their path will soon approach the farthest point of their orbits. Before the violent fallout, there were just two best friends on the verge of something more, learning about each other and their cultures through the art of perfume making.
In the grand scheme of things, Starset Prism occurs before Soul Shattering Star in the timeline, and no prior knowledge is necessary to understand and play the game.
Thank you for your interest in “Soul Shattering Star: Starset Prism” or simply “Starset Prism”. There is one ending, but a modest amount of choices are scattered among two path variations to get there.
In terms of genre, Starset Prism is an otome GxB visual novel. The only "love interest" of this minisode is tsundere yandere, and you'll see subtle sides of that here.
There should be no need for a walkthrough either given the length, but feel free to check out what you might have missed with this flowchart hidden under the arrow. Keep in mind that this timeline only captures major events, but not the branching dialogue that you'd get. You may need to right click -> open image in new tab to see it in its fullest size.
Starset Prism Flowchart
This is a proof of concept, and was put together within a week to demonstrate that a complete short story can be told with the current visual novel system. It is missing a couple of features typically associated with the visual novel genre, such as skip, rollback, saving/loading. However, this should not pose a problem as the story is short (~3700 words, including branching) and can be played in its entirety within 15-20 minutes.
As this is only a prototype, there are a couple of graphical bugs, particularly when mashing through text very quickly. Sprites may appear higher or lower than they should. The history button will appear to "stick" and needs to be clicked twice before the log appears.
